I have been a student athlete since the age of 11 when I started 6th grade at the Cardigan Mountain School, a small junior boarding school that happened to be in my family's backyard in rural New Hampshire. My family chose this tight knit school primarily because of the exceptional academics but also because of the opportunity to play three seasons of dedicated sports with exemplary coaches. I started skiing at the age of 18 months and was an avid skier beginning right after I learned to walk. At Cardigan, I was able to translate my freestyle skiing skills into alpine racing with my coaches and moved quickly on to USSA level skiing, racing at state level and regional level championships and training 6 days a week after rigorous academics.
Our home community is the town where Dartmouth College is located, and in junior high I was able to learn to row with the Upper Valley Rowing Foundation and at Dartmouth College. I was following in my older siblings' footsteps with rowing. I first learned to skull on the Connecticut River, and when looking for high school I chose Berkshire School because of the advanced academics and the opportunity to row competitively fall and spring, and ski competitively in the winter. I quickly took to rowing and my career as a student athlete took off at Berkshire. I attended preseason trips for crew and in the summers rowed with the Upper Valley Rowing Foundation for my first summer, and in my second summer was accepted into a competitive camp at St. Joseph's University where I honed my skills and my athletic training. At Berkshire, my dedication to and love of rowing solidified and I am now spending three seasons and summers training and competing in crew. From training on the water at school to national and international competitions, I have been focused on my sport and aspire to row competitively in college, continuing my role as a student in math and science and an athlete at the highest levels.
