Growing up by the Jersey shore, I have always had exposure to great music, beautiful beaches, and most importantly, the water. To no surprise, I was instantly hooked when introduced to crew my freshman year. Having the privilege of attending school at Christian Brothers Academy has taught me many valuable lessons that can easily apply to rowing. One of the most impactful is the idea that a sum is only as good as its parts, and we need to take care of each other to work as a single unit. Rowing is definitely not an easy sport, and it is important to know there are positives and negatives. I have learned that a winning boat is not necessarily the strongest guys or the tallest and heaviest, it is the eight or four people who are there for each other and can trust that every one of them is putting their all into the race. It is a matter of sacrificing yourself for a greater cause and for the other guys in the boat with you. This idea is the moral I want to represent when rowing for any team and in any boat.
