Hello, my name is Joe Yeager and I am a starboard in crew. Ever since I started rowing in December 2019, I picked up the sport very quickly and soon fell in love with it. In the first months of my rowing experience, I went from the slowest to the fastest novice in the 2k and the 6k in half the time the other novices were rowing. When practice began in the Fall, I was among the fastest but I knew that I could get better. Now, I have the 3rd fastest 5k, the 3rd fastest 6k, and the fastest 500m sprint on the team. These stats show that I will put in my best into every practice to help the team become faster for race day. My coaches were most surprised by the unordinary amount of time it took me to become the one of the best on the crew. The fastest rowers on the team now took years to get where they are today while it took me only 7 months to compete for the fastest boat. While I am fast now, there is a lot of potential for me to become faster than what I am today and my best years in rowing would be in college. Which ever college crew I row for, I will be putting in my best into every practice by applying the same effort I have put in so far. My dream would be to race in the Henley at least once and to race in as many countries outside the US. as possible. Outside rowing, I have spent over 400 hours doing volunteer work and I plan to continue this in college. I am second in my class rankings with a GPA of 3.88 and am involved in AP, Honors, and Extracurricular classes and activities. At work, I have been promoted and have been considered to be one of the more outgoing associates to give my fellow co-workers and customers an enjoyable time. While I may not have the fastest times to row for the best, I will apply the same mentality I have put in my other activities by pulling my hardest every time I am in the boat and go the extra meters to become the fastest I can be for my team.
