I joined rowing in the spring of 2022, just over halfway through my freshman year of high school. I had gone through a number of sports in the past, but none of them stuck. However, I fell in love with the sport as soon as I started. To me, the aspect of teamwork as well as the competitiveness of the sport were especially appealing. To become a good rower, one must be willing to put large amounts of time, energy, and work into the sport. Being a good rower shows that you have a strong work ethic, and a strong commitment to the sport. It also shows that you have the mental toughness to persevere through the rough and painful days. That's what makes me love rowing so much. In my time as a rower, I have grown both physically and mentally. Through rowing, I have learned how to become a leader, and my work ethic has grown significantly, as has my perseverance. This sport has become a part of who I am, and I look forward to continuing it through college.
