Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Spencer Mossman. I have been rowing since August 2021 at OKC Riversport in Oklahoma City. I am a junior at Harding Fine Arts Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am currently in my school's National Honor Society chapter and maximize my AP and Honors courses, resulting in a class rank of 1 out of 133.

I have fallen in love with rowing as it has helped me grow physically and mentally towards being a mature athlete and better person. I work hard daily to further elevate my rowing throughout my junior and senior year to help my team compete at the highest level. I have competed largely in U17 and 2nd Varsity categories at most regattas. My proudest accomplishment as a rower is winning the US Rowing National Championship in the U17 4+ A Final this year (2024). Some of my other racing accomplishments include the US Rowing Youth Nationals in the U17 4+ 5th Place A Final in 2023; US Central Regionals in the Youth 8+ 2nd place in 2024, 1st Place in the U17 4+ in both 2023 and 2024, 2nd Place in the U17 8+ in 2023; Head of the Charles getting 7th place in the U17 4+ in 2023; and Dogwood Junior Championship 1st place in the U17 4+ & 2V 4+ in 2024, 5th place in the 2V 8+ in 2024, 2nd place in the U17 4+ in 2023, and 4th place in the U17 8+ in 2023. I strive to elevate my academic credentials, continue to grow my schools NHS chapter, take AP and Honors classes as well as holding my class rank of 1 of 133 while continuing to improve in the sport of rowing in my oncoming junior and senior year with my amazing team in OKC.
