Medaling at Midwest and competing at Youth Nationals this year in the men's pair helped me to believe in the decisions I've made and efforts I've put into rowing since my childhood. I started rowing when I was ten in the adaptive program at Three Rivers Rowing Association because it was recommended physical therapy. I outgrew that program and the coaches recommended that I join the junior team, which I started as a coxswain. To get ready for the transition to high school, I joined my high school varsity rowing team in eighth grade. However, during freshman year, I switched back to Three Rivers for a more disciplined and rigorous training program.
Through these tough decisions and transitions, I have been exposed to different coaching styles and team dynamics. I respond well to feedback, and I am looking for a team that matches hard work with open communication and cooperation. As a successful academic student and increasingly competitive rower, I know I can make a great addition to a college program.
