As an athlete, I have learned a lot about myself through crew. This sport has taught me many lessons that have helped me not only in the sport itself, but also in my school and personal life. In the boat I am part of a team, where everyone is working to accomplish a single goal. I depend on them and they depend on me, and to succeed, each person needs to do their part. This sport has taught me to work with and respect a lot of different types of people, which is valuable in all aspects of life. To the team, I am reliable and encouraging, and this combined with my unique background of overcoming a rare genetic mutation has inspired me to help others. I have qualified for the Gold Presidential Service Award for my service with CAMP Camp, a respite camp for medically/ mentally disadvantaged youth and adults. My grades are important to me, and I have worked hard to achieve the balance between academics and extra curricular activities in order to be successful. In college I plan to major in the sciences, and I believe my rigorous high school course load has helped to prepare me for the challenge of balancing college academics and athletics in the future. Thank you for your consideration, I would be excited to hear from you soon.
