I have played soccer for over ten years. Ever since I was little, I have wanted to play soccer at the highest level possible. Being from Alaska this has been a challenge and has led me to join a competitive soccer club, a travel team, and apply to be soccer player on state teams (for the Olympic Development Team and Arctic Winter Games). The next step is to find a college team which is a good match.
I am a strong center back and can read the field and predict plays. I have excellent distribution skills and can keep control and lead the defense with my voice. I have had many different coaches and all of them have said that I am easy to coach. Specifically, they say I can take criticism and then fix the problem. In addition, I have also been a USSF certified referee since I was 12 years-old. I have traveled to 2 regional tournaments to referee, and this year was selected as Alaska’s male youth referee of the year. This experience has greatly added to my understanding of the game and helped me build my leadership role on the field. In school, I have maintained a 3.8 GPA. I have helped tutor in the local elementary school and have volunteered to teach younger age groups soccer.
I hope to find a college where I can prepare for a graduate program in physical therapy while pursuing my passion to play soccer. I will continue to strive for excellence both on and off the field, so that I can be an example to others who wish to go down the same path.
