My name is Eric VanAcker and I am a senior at Modoc High School in Alturas California. I am currently 5’10 and 155 lbs but my goal is to reach 170 lbs by the end of my senior year. I am a 4 year Varsity player and have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. In addition to soccer, I played baseball from ages 5-14, and was on the Varsity track team my sophomore year of high school. The experience I gained from these two sports has helped shape me both personally and athletically. I am an extremely competitive person, and as such, I strive for the best. This has helped me grow tremendously during my years playing soccer and it has allowed me to constructively criticize myself and make changes to how I play. I am always working on my tactical, technical, mental and physical fitness.
Over my 4 years of Varsity soccer, I have played (and started) in almost every position, including striker, attacking mid, sweeper, defensive mid, and center back. I am quite strong and very fast. As a striker I can usually break through a defensive line on my own, and as a defensive mid or center back it is uncommon for me to lose a 1-on-1 matchup or footrace. I take a very tactical approach to soccer. I understand how the game works and what needs to be done in order to come out on top. My goal right now is to play soccer at the college level, but I would of course love to go further than that.
I am a great communicator and leader both on and off the field. I always try to help and encourage my team mates in every situation; whether we win or lose. Ideally, I would like to attend a college in a more rural area with a strong engineering program. I am interested in all schools on the West Coast. I currently have a 4.3 GPA, and have had a comparable GPA throughout the entirety of High School.
