Growing up I remember running up and down the sidelines, being so excited, watching my older sister and brother play soccer. I knew this is what I wanted to do. I tried other sports, baseball, water polo and golf, but ultimately on the pitch was where I belong.
I wasn’t always the best or fastest player out there but my determination to be a better player is what set me apart from the rest. Coaches, parents and even players have expressed how much they admire my work ethic and passion for the game. I don’t like to lose and will do whatever it takes to leave everything on the pitch. I know that by working hard and leading by example will encourage my teammates to do the same producing positive results in our training and games. I remember being injured in one of our games, barely being able to walk, no subs and our goalie was sick, I told coach to put me in goal because I wanted to help in any way possible. We didn’t win but you can bet I did everything I could to keep the ball out of the net.
Academically, school did not come easy for me. My freshman year during Covid, my grades dropped, and I struggled. My sophomore year, in a new school, I had to learn to adapt. I knew if I couldn’t keep my grades up all hopes of attending a prestigious college and playing soccer would be lost. I applied my soccer work ethic to school and learned how to manage my time better and be more efficient which has helped me be more successful on and off the field. As a Junior this year, my high school team won league, advanced to quarter finals, and I was selected Second Team All-League. In the classroom I continue to work hard to maintain a high GPA while increasing honors and AP classes. Ultimately, I’m open to all options but ultimately want to find the right college that fits my academic goals as well as provide me with the highest level of competition possible.
