Eric Martinez '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Eric Augustine Martinez.  I am in 12th grade. I am 5'’8” and weigh 145pounds.

Presently, I attend Centennial High School  in Bakersfield, CA.  I have a 2.90 GPA.  Since elementary school, I have been on the Honor Roll every Semester.  I've also received "Good Citizenship" awards multiple times.

This Fall (2021-22 academic year), I began my Senior year at Centennial High School in Bakersfield, CA.  

I have approximately 11 years of soccer experience.  Out of those 11 years, I've played 10 years, at the Club level, with the Cal South affiliated Phoenix Futbol Club (Bakersfield Blades FC) in Bakersfield, CA.  Currently, I’m competing in the 2022 Spring Soccer Season (Cal South Affiliated Coast Soccer League).  My current playing positions are at Outside Back and Center Back.  And, at times Attacking Midfielder.  This season, I’m averaging 1 goal, 3 assists and 7-8 defensive stops per game.

I'm a 5th generation Mexican-American student. A part from playing soccer, I'm active with my church. For example, I've been an Altar Server for the past 5 years.  I also like working with young children.  I get the opportunity to play and work with children in my mother's Daycare program.

I'm interested in soccer is for multiple reasons.  First, I love the team oriented environment soccer has to offer.  Soccer is like family to me.  I enjoy playing with teammates and friends.  I get joy out of expressing myself in this sport.

My hope and dreams are to play at the college/university level and eventually professionally.  Nevertheless, my education is the priority.

At this point in time I don’t know what I’d like to major in.

I’m a team oriented individual.  I take constructive criticism positively.  I’m an unselfish person who likes to get teammates involved during competition.  I take leadership positions seriously and humbly.  I’m a good role model and peer.  I believe a college coach and program would benefit from me being  on their team due to my character and hard work.
