Tarek Ibessaine Personal Statement

I am excited to share my soccer journey and the experiences that have shaped me into the player I am today. As a high level soccer player, I have dedicated myself to consistently improving my skills and contributing to team success both on and off the field. Here is my YOUTUBE  PLAYER HIGHLIGHT VIDEO.

One of my biggest accomplishments is playing with the  Algerian National Soccer Team, I have had the honor of being the first American-Algerian called up to represent the team. This opportunity allowed me to bridge cultural gaps while adapting quickly to new environments and playing styles. My versatility, adaptability, and strong work ethic have helped me integrate seamlessly into the team, where I have been able to perform at a high level.

With Minnesota United in the MLS, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to make an impact in games. During the 2023-2024 season, I was a leader in the team in both goals and assists, showcasing my offensive capabilities and contributing to multiple victories. My technical skills, including precise ball control, accurate passing, and a keen eye for goal, have been critical in creating scoring opportunities for myself and my teammates. I play striker with them for the first time, showing my adaptability. I also played with MNUFC 2. 

At the age of 16, I moved to Spain to join FC Malaga City, a pivotal step in my soccer development and career. Playing with the U19 team as the starting left winger allowed me to compete against some of the best young talents in Europe, sharpening my skills and understanding of the game. The experience of playing at such a high level demanded a high degree of technical proficiency, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning, all of which I developed and honed during my time there. Balancing rigorous soccer training with my academic responsibilities required discipline and dedication, which I managed through independent study. This experience not only elevated my game on the field but also taught me valuable life skills like time management, adaptability, and self-motivation.

I pride myself on my tactical awareness and understanding of the game, which allows me to read the play effectively and make smart decisions on the field. My ability to anticipate the movements of opponents and teammates alike has made me a valuable asset in both offensive and defensive situations. I am committed to maintaining high levels of fitness and discipline to perform consistently throughout the season.

In addition to my technical and tactical skills, I strive to be a leader on the field. I believe in leading by example, whether it's through my work ethic, communication, or ability to remain calm under pressure. My goal is always to contribute to the team's success and foster a positive and cohesive team environment.

I am eager to continue growing as a player and making significant contributions to my team. I look forward to the opportunity to bring my skills, experience, and passion for the game to new challenges. Recently, My Minnesota United coach said that I was "a coaches dream".  I am a true team player and I look forward to what is next.
