My name is Lukas Yoffie and I will be graduating from Oak Ridge High School in class of 2018. My goal is to play soccer at a collegiate level while getting a degree in engineering.
I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. When I was young, I also competed in several other sports: flag football, taekwondo, and ski racing. When I first tried out for a comp soccer team around age 11, I didn't make the team. That year, while I played rec level, I asked my parents to take me to every clinic I could find and the following year I was offered a spot. At the beginning of that season I was a backup and slowly earned more and more playing time until by the end of the year, I was starting. I've been a starter ever since.
That experience taught me a lot. I make sure no one on my teams out-works me. And, even though I am a starter and one of the better players on my teams now, because I got serious about soccer later than some of my teammates, I am still improving more and faster than most of them and have surpassed many of the players who were stars on my previous teams. This makes me want to keep working hard and keep getting better because I'm still learning and still getting better and don't know yet how good I can be.
My primary positions are Center Back, Outside Back/Fullback, and Center Defending Midfielder. I play fast and strong defense, have good field vision and on-field communication, and strong technical skill.
I love the game and play and practice every chance I get. I also do strength and fitness training outside of soccer practice. I love working to improve my game and lead by example in practice by always giving 110%..
I am just starting my second year with the Folsom Lake Earthquakes Boys 99/00 (a San Jose Earthquakes affiliated club). We were State Cup semi-finalists in our first year as a new team that just came together in June 2016 with players from 7 different high schools. Because we are a new team, we started with 0 points and finished as semi-finalists in State Cup.
In March I completed high school season where our Varsity team made the playoffs in the D1 San Joaquin Section, the highest level of play in the area. I play center defender and fullback for the Oak Ridge High School Trojans (Varsity, Division 1). High school soccer is during the winter season in Northern California.
Sophomore year, I captained and played center defender for my division champion Oak Ridge High School JV team that finished with a record of 12 wins, 2 losses, 2 ties and had 8 shutouts.
I am looking for a great fit academically and athletically. I have an unweighted 3.7 GPA going into my senior year, 1320 SAT and 30 ACT scores. I took 4 AP classes at a junior and and will take 3 more AP classes as a senior.
Soccer is my first love; I also lettered on my high school ski team and raced at the State Championships my freshman and sophomore years where we finished 2nd in the state my sophomore year. I have an international black belt in Taekwondo and won gold and silver medals at California State Champions and USA Taekwondo National Championships my freshman year. I am this summer's Eagle project short of completing the requirements to earn the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
I am self motivated and strive to be the best in everything I do. I am super competitive in everything and the biggest moments always bring out the most in me.
If I sound like a student-athlete that would be a good fit in your program, I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance,
Lukas Yoffie
