Kevin Weslow – Personal Statement Summer 2019
There are some who avoid challenges and competition. I am not one of those people. I embrace the competition and challenges and confront these challenges, especially on the soccer field. From the dusty fields of AYSO when I was 5 years old, to transitioning to club soccer at the age of 7, to the pitches of England playing with my former soccer club, Santa Barbara Soccer Club team, to the high school field in Fillmore, CA. where I started on the Varsity team during my freshman and sophomore seasons, to my current club, Real So Cal (Academy), I have worked and strived to improve my soccer skills to achieve my highest potential.
Regardless if I am on the field or in the classroom, I always work to put my best self forward.
I have benefited from being taught the game from excellent coaches. I have benefitted by playing with dedicated teammates who also seek to develop mutual skills to strike toward our goals. And most importantly, I have benefited from the support I have received from my parents, teachers, and friends. I am a vocal teammate and leader with a strong work ethic.
After high school, I am looking forward to the next chapter of my soccer journey with the goal of being a positive contributor to a college soccer program that shares my vision of academic and athletic excellence, striving to be the best, to confront challenges, and to embrace competition, and most importantly, to win!
