My name is Alvaro Contreras. I am currently a sophomore (class of 2023) at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California. I aspire to get into a good four year college due to coming from a single parent household that doesn't have much higher education. From a very young age my mom has implemented in me that a higher education is the way to a bright future. I am a hard worker that has a set mindset to always better myself and others around me. I am determined to get a good education and get far in life because I want to better my lifestyle as well as for my mom and sister. When I was younger I would always get in trouble. Since kindergarten my teachers didn't have much patience with me and always wrote me up. Which then resulted in my mom missing work and me getting into more trouble. When the situation just got too much to handle my mom took me to the dr. That is when I was diagnosed with ADHD. I got prescribed medication for my ADHD but as my mom would say they turned me into a "walking zombie" which my mom hated so she decided that instead of having me on medication we would try different methods and that is how since the age of 6 I've been part of soccer teams and different sports along the way. My mom also put me into baseball at the age of 7 and I played up to 13 and my family wants me to keep playing but I just don't have the passion for baseball as I do for soccer. I just have loved the game and I keep loving the game to this day. Since I've been part of so many teams all these years there is one thing my coaches always say to me " You're a natural born leader". I would really love to be able to develop that characteristic in me. I want to be a leader. I want to make an impact and make my family proud. I have had many people talk down on me mostly from teachers that don't seem to understand me but I don't let them distract me from my finish line. They just makes want to work harder so I can achieve my goals. As to what I can contribute to team, I can contribute my leadership, my efficient work, my intensity, my drive, my loyalty , and team mentality I won't be the only one improving so will my teammates no man is left behind. I am a average grade student but my personality, my skills , my hunger to learn and grow , aswell, as improve my skills make me a great candidate for your team.
