I am Sebastian Castaneda, a student-athlete in Lincoln Heights. I believe very strongly in hard work. In practice, there is no excuse to slack off. The more your body endures effort, the more it gets used to it and the farther you can push yourself. Through marathons, I've pushed the physical and mental limits of my body. Doing so has made me the role model among my teammates.
Additionally, I have experienced many moments where I am under heavy pressure. Whether it’s an important goal or a penalty, I believe I perform best in these moments. For cross country, I was the first student-athlete in my school’s history to make it to state. To say the least, everyone in my team was counting on me. Being in the spotlight humbled me, it made me realize to appreciate the effort of others.
In class, I keep my grades up. I’m very serious about going to college, so I strive further than the average student through AP and Honors classes. Keeping an A while managing my soccer club as well as the school team. This reflects my time management skills as well as my dedication to the team.
I want to go to college to have a future where I can give back to my family. Through many hardships and sacrifices, I’ve gotten the opportunity to make something of myself. I won't stop chasing that dream until I achieve it.
