Personal Statement

My name is Henry Hill and I am a junior at Miramonte High School in Orinda, California.  Miramonte is one of the most difficult public schools in the state and being able to balance both rigorous academics and athletics has shaped the person I am.  I take great pride in my academics and my hard work ethic.  I was a defensive midfielder, captain and team MVP as a freshman of our JV team and I was pulled up to the varsity team by the end of the year.  This season, I played for the Miramonte Varisty team and I played consistent minutes. I was able to develop my skills against difficult competition and the challenges of varsity only improved my game. I've been playing center back for Lamorinda Soccer Club for nine years and I am also the team captain.

I'm a natural leader and a vocal player when I'm on the field and being able to communicate with my teammates is one of my strengths. But what I thinks makes me a good soccer player is my work ethic, strength, and being able to distribute out of the back. By pushing myself every game and practice I am able to become a better player and the captain of our league winning team.  By adjusting to a defensive midfielder, which has now allowed me to be able to play both midfield and my natural position of center back. Playing both positions gives me a better feel of the game and allows me to attack and use my skills to be someone who can both score in the air and someone who can look for the defense splitting pass. I also enjoy doing charity work as the VP of Philanthropy for Boys Team Charity, an organization in which I participate and The Mirador, our school paper for who I've become the sports editor and a writer.

I would like to attend a school that will be able to satisfy my academic needs and a school that could work me to be the best center back I can be.  If you give me the chance at the next level I will be willing to put in the work to make your program better.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
