Passionate, driven, and dedicated are a few of the many words that define me in my everyday life. As I was halfway through seventh grade, I was forced to move, which meant that I would be leaving most of my friends and family. There were many ups and downs with moving, such as meeting new people, getting used to a new school system, and leaving my friends and family. These bumps in the road were only preparing me for life ahead and have helped mold me into the person I am today. When I moved, I was unable to attend a public middle school due to the schools being overpopulated, which meant I had to attend online schooling. Even though I was not familiar with online schooling, I was able to maintain the principles honor roll. Another benefit of this schooling was that it helped prepare me for COVID when my public high school went to online schooling. Although one may look at this situation and blame the external reasons for moving, I rose to the challenge and persevered. Another event that proves these qualities was when I started working for my neighbors at the young age of twelve. I was able to use the skills my father taught me and began to earn money. I also learned how to manage my time and money at this age since I was playing soccer, working, and going to school. Before COVID took place, both of my parents had lost their jobs which meant finances were in a tough spot. This led to me having to pay for part of my club soccer dues which I was willing to pay since soccer means so much to me, and I understood where my parents were at. Despite my schedule being extremely busy, I was able to maintain the principal's honor roll in high school all through my Junior year (on track for my Senior year as well). Another factor is that I thrive in an environment where I am challenged. I began to play soccer at the age of eight but started playing club soccer around the age of ten. I always asked my coach if I could stay after and train with the olders (high schoolers) as it allowed me to develop my game and learn from them. Being in this challenging environment is what helped push me to reach the next level that I know I am capable of. I currently drive anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half for my club team located in Irvine California, three to five times a week since my freshman year. Being in a challenging environment has not only taken place on the soccer field but also in the classroom. Since my Sophomore year, I have taken Honors and AP classes that have placed me in the top fifty of my class. At a young age, I realized that playing at the collegiate level takes skill and also grades. Not only do I look to make myself a better student, athlete, or person but I also look to help my friends and community out. In my Freshman year, I volunteered to help lost and homeless animals find homes. I have participated in food drives to help those in need and currently help out my church with taking down after service. Through these personal experiences, I feel that I am a well-rounded candidate for your school and have what it takes to make it better than I left it.
