My name is Ashwin Giri of the class of 2021 and I am a central defensive midfielder and outside back. Soccer never came easy for me - I had to work to start every game on varsity because hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. I love playing soccer because it lifts the burdens that one carries on their shoulders. I am able to express myself and my talent by reading the game effectively while making sure it stays under my team's control. I personally enjoy anticipating an opponent's pass string and intercepting their passes. Moments like these spark fast and dangerous transitions that catch the opponent off guard. Despite my size, I am strong and win 50/50 balls with my speed and agility. I sometimes like to dribble forward unless good passing lane opens up. I ran cross country the first three years of high school, meaning that I have the endurance and stamina to last a full game while putting in my maximum effort. I would really enjoy any opportunity to play at the next level, whether it be Division I, II, III, or NAIA. Either way, I will be the type of player that comes to the field first and leaves last because I can't play the game any other way.
