Nien-Ping Yao as both a player and a person whom I have the utmost confidence in. While having the pleasure of coaching Ping and seeing him on and off the field for over a year, I would recommend him to your program/school. He is a complete athlete, as he is very driven and passionate and takes the extra preparation to develop and hone his skills. While traveling out of state, I have others look up to him as he understands and has the mental capacity to be disciplined during travel, lodging, meal prepping, and night curfews. Coaching multiple teams, he often does double days to prepare for the weekend or upcoming tournaments and seeks extra individual training. As a player, he is a very speedy, skillful winger that provides the necessary crosses and overlaps that generates a dangerous ball in the attacking third, most of which leads to an assist. He is strong on the ball and has one of the higher soccer IQ levels on my teams. Additionally, he is one of the most passionate and competitive player, which translates to success on and off the field. Being part of a top ten team in the country last year, both his soccer abilities and personal disposition helped lead us to many titles and recognition. Ping Yao is an intelligent, hard-working and talented individual. In my opinion everybody is talented however it is the personality inside that allows the talent to surface. Ping has a real passion, hunger and drive for better. He recently caught my eye at a National Training Camp with the u19s. He can play on either wing, he works hard for the team and his undoubted strength is his ability to beat players in a variety of 1v1 situations. Ping Yao is a fantastic young man with such an enthusiastic and positive character which shines when he plays football. He’s intelligent, hard-working and extremely passionate with a technical ability to back it all up. Ping spent a season here with our academy in London, England and it was amazing to watch him take in all the tactical elements of the game and then adapt his own philosophy. He can play on either wing and in CM and will always work hard both on and off the mall.
