Kai Lauer 2021 Hi...Personal Statement
My name is Kai Lauer, a member of Santa Monica High’s class of 2022. I was a starter on Varsity during my junior year, in which we won the CIF State Championship. I was chosen by my teammates to be one of two team captains for my senior year. I am also a member of FC England B04 (Gold). If you are looking for an outside back or a box-to-box midfielder who can play up and down the field the whole game, shoot from range, and have enough stamina to sprint the whole game, I believe that I am a potential candidate. I am very hard working on and off the field, and I am always giving 100% effort. My academics are very solid, with a 3.65 unweighted and a 4.0 weighted. While soccer is my passion, I am also well-rounded, applying myself with equal vigor to my studies, extracurricular activities including playing trumpet, volunteering for Heal The Bay and The AYSO VIP Program (coaching and mentoring Special Needs players).

- ActivitiesSocial Activism Samo Shell, a homeless shelter in Santa Monica. Food Server: Typical shift consists of: Setting up the dining room: Plates, drinks, cups, silverware, etc. Prepare the food line, Serve dinner ‘in the line’, attend to the clients during meal (provide, 2nds, top off drinks, pull plates Clean up: Kitchen and Dining Room (stow tables/chairs) sweep, mop Orphanage Visits and Distribution: Hogar de Los Ninos, and Border Angels. Tijuana, Mexico Collection of toiletries, socks, underwear, etc throughout the Santa Monica and West Los Angeles communities for distribution to above nonprofits who, among other things, shelter Central American and other Migrants stuck in Mexico as well as leave water and food supplies for people making the arduous journey North through the desert. Mozambique Africa: MuGeDe NonProfit Org Agriculture Development Volunteer (aiding farmers) Zijuantanejo Mexico: Los Ninos NonProfit Org: School construction/painting 2021: Organized a food drive for Hope United LA to help feed the less fortunate during the pandemic. A good friend and I collected food from restaurants that had no need for their excess, then drove it to Hope United LA. A few days later, we came back to help sort all the donations into individual boxes for each family. Member: Heal The Bay. Every other Sunday the kids walk the beach and pick up trash. VIP Program.
