Shane Williams '23 Recruiting Profile

Growing up in a family of soccer players, I spent much of my childhood watching and playing the game. Now, as a sophomore in high school, I started in my first season of high school varsity soccer. Our team played through Covid for almost 9 months before the start of the season. Training with masks on or socially distanced, we did whatever it would take to win, and it paid off. Winning the state championship in a year like that was an unrepeatable experience. It taught me a new level of resilience and strength to keep going and work harder. Before this year I had been lucky enough to play in the US Development Academy for 3 years. During this time, my abilities improved greatly; however, I feel that the greatest improvement I had was in my attitude and understanding of the game. The DA taught me leadership skills, responsibility, teamwork, respect, and most importantly balance. I want to find a program that will help me to improve both on the field and off the field. I believe that my abilities on the field, work rate, flexibility, and willingness to do whatever it takes would make me a great addition to your program.
