Matteo Romero '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coaches, 

My name is Matteo Romero. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and eager to continue throughout college. I've played with my travel town team (Branford Soccer Club) for about 10 year, I've played with Shoreline FC for 5 years,  and with Brazil CT for one. I was also invited to play with Shorelines Greenwich team in Virginia for regionals. For my school teams, I played with the Foote School starting in 7th grade and ending in 9th all years on Varsity. For Hamden Hall, I've played with them for two years starting varsity both years. Being involved in the medical field is something that runs in my family and is something I would like to do when Im older. As of right now, I am a junior who comes home with  strictly A's and B's. Academics are very Important to me in order to fulfill my hopes of being a Orthopedic Surgeon.  Just like in school I work  hard on the field. "Practice as you play" -Unknown is a motto I like to follow.  Some characteristics that make me stand out from other players is my speed, footwork, and strength.  I am also the loudest on the field which helps me communicate with team mates. Although I am a three sport athlete (soccer, lacrosse, hockey), I am most interested in soccer. Other sports allow me to strengthen different parts of my body that I don't use as often and eventually end up contributing to skills used while playing soccer.
