Playing soccer has been a major role in life as soccer has always served a huge purpose in life for me. Most of my time in the field, I am multitasking, my team and I take the time out of our day to discuss with each other in and out of practice about previous games. Before practice, we usually analyze the way that we’ve played in the past with the opposing team. At the end of practice, we set up goals for ourselves to help us improve our play during the field. During games, we organize ourselves in several different positions. I usually play as a winger and forward and try to score goals, assist my teammates, and make scoring plays in both my high school and travel team (Doradus SDOR RSA 02 ELITE). In order to balance both soccer and academics, I usually organize a weekly schedule for myself where I estimate how much time an assignment will take to complete. Because of this on-going pandemic, I am able to spend more time working on assignments at my own pace since the work is done remotely. Every morning I usually go on runs to help boost my stamina. After running, I start to feel more energized and ready to start my school day on Zoom. Before the pandemic, I would set up a day with friends to find a place to hang out and study. We would complete all of our assignments before doing anything else. I would also email my teachers and advisors in case of any extensions or emergencies whenever I felt that I needed more time to achieve the best of my abilities to complete an assignment. On my way to practice, I also start to brainstorm some of the ideas that I would write about for my long-term assignments such as my IA’s and Reflective Project. Overall the field has had a great impact on my life and has provided me with several opportunities such as meeting new people and networking with several different coaches and teams. Nevertheless, I plan to continue to play soccer whether it’s professionally or for personal interest.
