My parents’ support and involvement was what motivated me at the outset, however that initial interest became my passion once I understood the true nature of the game, which at an early stage in my life taught me about commitment, friendship, about respect, humility, about discipline, teamwork and, most importantly, how to deal with adversity. Being a so called “late bloomer” has been a great challenge yet a true blessing in disguise for me, for this temporary circumstance forced me to become mentally stronger and to develop technical abilities to compensate and succeed against more physical competition.
I feel lucky to have the parents and the coaches I had, including the bad ones, they all have taught me life lessons that have prepared me for the challenges ahead; in addition, I am fortunate to have soccer as my unconditional allied, always there to teach me something new, always there to allow me to express myself and to do what I love.
