Alek LaRoi '23 Recruiting Profile

My main goal is to play on a high level college team that feels like family, where the players and coaches have mutual respect for each other and work cooperatively to reach goals together.  While in college I would like to study marketing or sports marketing, while being part of a team.  I feel I am a good candidate for this type of team and environment because I am loyal, hardworking, and a team player who loves the game and has been committed to the game since the age of three.  I have been the captain of my team for six years, and the highlight of my soccer career was working with them to achieve success in winning the National Championship for USYS  in Overland, Kansas in 2019 and again in Orlando, Florida in 2022. We also competed in  the Championships in 2021, giving me even more experience playing at a high level.  These events will live in my memory forever and has bonded me with my teammates for life.  My coaches have spoken about my determination and positive attitude over the years, and my "coachability" and  leadership qualities have helped me to have meaningful relationships with them as they have helped me to grow as a person and player.  I bring the same mentality to school as I do to soccer.  Goal setting and follow through have allowed me to keep my grades solid, and maintain my place on the honor roll. I look forward to building strong connections, and learning a great deal from my future soccer and college experiences.
