When I was first invited to join a travel soccer team at the U8 level, the promise of tournament hotels and swimming pools with friends was the enticement. As my skills improved, I discovered that I was quick while still able to control the ball. Soccer had become a part of me. I have trained and competed in soccer year-round ever since.
Through the years, the importance of training, hard work, and dedication have been instilled in my soccer development. The team depends on every player, and if I am not at my best, then I pull the team down with me. Likewise, I must encourage and support every teammate in order to build a strong team. As captain of my high school soccer team, these beliefs have helped me to work well with others and to become a strong leader. Whether mediating player conflict or tutoring a teammate after practice, I strive to apply this ethic. My behavior both on and off the soccer field reflects my commitment as a teammate, student, and most importantly a person of strong character.
The competitive drive I have in soccer extends to my performance in school. I have maintained a weighted GPA of 4.125/4.0 while enrolled in honors, AP, and dual credit courses. I remain involved with the community through volunteering at the food bank, Catholic Heart Work Camp, and the Morton Pumpkin Festival. While working towards a degree in business, I will explore marketing and economics. My goal is to achieve honors level grades while earning a starting position on the soccer team.
