Hello, my name is Mitch Coughlon and I just completed my junior season at Washington Community High School in Washington, Illinois. I have been very involved and dedicated to the sport of soccer since I was four years old. I have always had a true passion playing the game and I want to continue playing at the college level.
As a junior forward, I was selected 1st Team All-Midwest Region, IHSSCA All State, All Regional, 1st team All Conference and Peoria Journal Star Player of the Year. I scored 48 goals and had 7 assists for a 17-5-2 record. I was team captain for the Panther team that won a Conference and Regional title, before losing in the Sectional final.
As a sophomore forward, I started on the varsity soccer team. I scored 17 goals and 10 assists in 15 games. I was awarded All-Conference (first team) and All-Sectional (first team) as a sophomore. Being a multi-sport athlete is very important to me so I played several other sports including basketball (varsity and sophomore team), baseball, and football (kicker and punter, varsity and sophomore).
As a freshman forward, I started on the varsity soccer team. During that season, I scored 22 goals in 22 games. I was awarded All-Conference (first team) and All-Sectional (first team) as a freshman. I also play several other sports including basketball (sophomore team), baseball, football (kicker and punter, varsity and freshman), and cross country (varsity).
I also excel academically and my grades are extremely important to me. I am in all honor classes and achieving all A’s. My goals academically include maintaining a high GPA which is 4.6 and preparing myself for college. I am undecided on what I would like to study in college; however, I am very interested in engineering. When I begin the process of selecting a college, I am mainly looking for a great education and a great soccer program where I could be a valuable asset to the team.
I would love to be able to play college soccer. I am a hard-working athlete and I have the mentality to handle the sport at the next level. As I said before, I have been dedicated to this sport my entire life. Nothing means more to me than teamwork and hustle on the field and I feel I would be able to deliver both of these at the college level.
