Augustus Ulrich '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Augustus (Gus) Ulrich and I am a senior at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland.  I will be attending Tufts University in the fall of 2025 (accepted ED1), where I hope to walk on to the varsity team, or else play club. This year I served as a captain for the Churchill varsity soccer team, starting at center back, as I did for my junior and sophomore years (earning letters all three years), while leading a defense which allowed fewest points per game of any 4A team in the county, for the second year in a row. In my sophomore season our team won our conference. This season our team reached the regional finals, as I notched 2 goals and 1 assist, was voted team defensive MVP, and was named to the All-Division, All-County 1st team, and All-State squads.

I also play club soccer for the top ECNL 07 team at Potomac Soccer Association, primarily at outside back (my team, now in the ECNL North Atlantic Conference, were 2021-22 Maryland State Cup Champions and Regional finalists, 2021-22 and 2022-23 USYS National League P.R.O. competitors, 2022-23 USYS South Atlantic Conference winners, and 2019 State Cup finalists). I also played for the Maryland State ODP teams from 2019-22. In the 2021-22 season I was selected for the ODP East Region ID Clinic in Wilmington DE and the ODP East Region Training Pool in Fredericksburg VA, and was selected for the ODP East Interregional team for 2022-23. 

I am a very determined and coachable player with good defensive and short and long passing skills, and I love playing at a high, competitive level. I’m always motivated to improve my personal game.

During my freshman year of high school, I took 4 Honors classes and 1 AP class, earning straight A's in both the first and second semesters. During my sophomore year, I took 5 Honors classes and 2 AP classes. For my junior year, I took 5 AP classes and 2 Honors classes, and earned straight As in the first marking period. For my senior year I am taking 5 AP classes, including AP Chem DP. I have a strong interest in political science and biochemistry.
