As I look into my future, I would like to continue setting goals for myself and be the best I can be in all aspects of my life. One thing that has helped me develop into the person I am today is my passion on the soccer field. When I was 11 years old, I was introduced to playing soccer and found I learned so much about myself as I learned the game. As I only knew the game of American football, I decided to broaden my skills and challenge myself in a sport I knew little about. As I continued through my first year, I enjoyed the game, and I found that I pushed myself harder in soccer than I have ever did before in any sport. I immediately loved the challenge and was determined to be the best I can be. I developed skills throughout each season, continuing to learn every time I step onto the soccer field today.
Soccer has helped me become who I am because of the strength and conditioning that one must do on a daily basis, being a team player and developing a bond with each of my teammates, respecting all whom I come in contact, on and off the field, learning to accept criticism and feedback and turning that into positive experiences. I value my academic progress as education goes hand and hand in with athletics in my future. I am a Junior at Springbrook High School and I currently have a 2.91, weighted 3.4 GPA. I am looking forward attending a 4-year college or university, majoring in sports journalism. I also plan to continue to play soccer at the collegiate level. I will continue to strategize to balance my time equally between academics and athletics, therefore I feel I will be successful. As I was entering high school, I was forced to attend a different school where I had no friends, nor did I know anyone. That was the hardest obstacle to overcome. While it would have been very easy to fall into depression, I chose to jump out of my comfort zone and get to know others. That experience has been a huge factor as to who I am today. I am a hard worker that knows what I can achieve or when I must re-evaluate my management skills to better myself. Additionally, I feel I am a good listener/learner. I take everything I am told and use it to benefit myself and my classmates or teammates. I see all criticism as valuable as it will only make me better. Therefore, I accept all that comes my way and will continue to give 500% to be the best I know how to be in all aspects of my life.
