Sam Fodrey '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sam Fodrey and I am a 2023 graduate from Essexville, MI. I play club soccer for Bay Area Soccer Association. I typically play forward or attacking midfielder.

I had the great opportunity to start in our first game of the season which was in the pre-season tournament that we play in each year. In that game, we played a personal rival of ours. The game got heated quickly and when you are a freshman playing a bunch of seniors they see an opportunity to beat up on the new guy on the field. I was nervous, I knew that if I listened to what my coaches said and the leads of my senior captains it would come together. I had scored the first goal of the game, we tied that game and we came away undefeated from that tournament. I had one of the most rewarding lessons that day though and it wasn’t the goal or the game. It was seeing it all come together in a moment… The coaching, the hard work, the comradery of the team.

No matter the outcome of the day when every man gives 110% for their team, for each other, for their coach, and you put the plan on the field the outcome will always be genuine soccer.
