Will Eby '23 Recruiting Profile

My collegiate aspirations are to have the opportunity to play for a high level college soccer program while still achieving my academic and career objectives.  My goal is to study at a premier academic university while also continuing to play the sport I am incredibly passionate about. Achieving a 4.0 GPA in High School thus far and playing 2+ years in Academy soccer against the best competition in the country is a great start. In order to continue to meet my academic and athletic goals, my focus is on establishing my leadership skills on and off the soccer field.    As a team captain, I am vocal and constructive while maintaining a positive atmosphere during practice and in games. I also recognize that I am still a student of the game, so I am an extremely coachable player that can take in feedback and translate it back to my performance.   My passion and dedication to the game is the driving force for continuous improvement.   

On the field, I am a very versatile player.  I currently play center-back, but I have experience playing all positions on the field.  Late in games if our team needs a goal, I am often placed in a more attacking position. Proving my versatility outside of soccer, I hold the middle school all-time record for fastest mile time (5:02). As a center-back I facilitate the team in attack and defense. If there is a ball in the air or in a 50/50 position, I feel that I will win that ball every time. When I do have possession, I am calm with the ball even under great pressure. I will never back down from a physical challenge and have proven this playing in games two years above my age group.  

Overall, I feel I have a number of skills that make me an asset for any team. However, my leadership and versatility as a player and athlete is what clearly sets me apart from other recruits.
