Personal Statement

My name is Ethan Olson and I am from Northfield, MN.  I will graduate from Northfield High School in 2022.  I currently play for Minnesota Thunder Academy, and maintain a 3.93 GPA.

The first time I stepped on a soccer field was when I was 18 months old. I participated in a little kickers program in Wixom, MI.  While it mainly involved stomping bubbles and kicking balloons, it started me on the path to loving soccer.  When we moved to Northfield, MN, just before I turned 5, I started playing in the local rec program.  Before the start of my U10 season, I decided to enhance my soccer abilities by joining Minnesota Thunder Academy, where I currently play. During my time there I won the 2017 U13 state cup, played at the NPL national tournament, and played two consecutive years at the DA level before the club decided to transition to the ECNL, where I currently play for their U16 team. Additionally, this year I played for my high school varsity soccer team and play in an indoor latino league.

I currently volunteer for Minnesota Thunder Academy's Thunderbolts program, which is involved in introducing young players to the game of soccer. Also, I volunteer for Northfield Swim Club. I have both served in hand timing for races and opperating the computer system that runs the digital clock, scoreboard, and timing system. I plan to broaden my volunteer experience over the coming months in both my community and region.

In school I play viola for the Symphony orchestra.  Additionally, my Junior schedule is filled with multiple advanced courses including, AP Spanish, accelerated English, Honors Pre-Calc, AP World History, and AP Chemistry. Continuing to challenge myself in the educational process is very important to me. My current goal is to pursue a career that is science/technology based, and hope to find a school that will both challenge me academically and athletically.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
