My name is Will Fruge. I play for Roosevelt High School Minneapolis and for club I play Keliix Intra a year up on an 06 NPL team. I have played soccer since probably 5th grade and I was always really good at it. Towards the end of my Freshman year of high school and heading into club I suffered various injuries. The main ones were a L5 stress fracture. The total time I was out for was almost a year. This high school season (sophmore season) was the first time I've played since last high school season. The things I have learned from these experiences are very important, the main things that stick out to me are the ability to keep a growth mindset through all those challenges, ability to stay calm and deal with injuries the correct way, determination, and dedication. Through that year it also made me realize how much the sport brings and has brought to my life. Even though I was not able to play the sport for almost a year I gained a deeper understanding of the game. I went to every practice and game my team had and was able to still support my team by making people laugh or set a good energy. Another positive I gained was having time to study the game. Everyday after school I watched 1 professional soccer match and analyzed it, and have a full notebook of just soccer notes.
My goal is to play at the college level. I love to play the game, I love the people I meet, the challenges I face, and the flow I feel when I play the game. When it comes to academics I gravitate towards entrepreneurship and business. I also love the idea of continuing to work with athletes whether that's a personal trainer, coach, sports therapist, or owning my own business that facilitates a mix of those things. In conclusion I love the sport. It has taught me so much about life, developing good habits, having fun, overcoming obstacles, and growing as a person, player, and teammate.
