I began playing tennis three years ago at the beginning of my freshman year of high school. I came to tennis after years of cross country skiing, which I have continued throughout my high school career. Tennis has taught me determination, persistence, and leadership. During my junior year tennis season, I realized that I was interested in furthering my tennis career in college and challenging myself to improve my skills and abilities since I am fairly new to the sport. Three years ago, my team consisted of merely 10 girls who were mostly beginners. Through recruiting, fundraising, and various events, I have helped my team grow to over 30 girls while adding a girls’ JV tennis team at our school for the first time in decades. I was voted Varsity team captain by my teammates this year and have goals of advancing my personal skills while further developing our young school team.
