I have been playing soccer since I was five years old, but in the past few years I've become more serious about the sport. In 7th grade I took the initiative to ask my parents to switch to a more competitive club team because I felt like I had learned all I could with my former club team and coaches and was ready for more of a challenge. Although I made the C1 team with the new club, I started the season at the bottom. But I was motivated. I made every practice, and practiced a lot on my own. Even though in the beginning of the season I sat on the bench for the games, I used that time to listen to the coaches and learn from my teammates. By the end of the season I was starting in every game.
This year I made the varsity team for my high school as a freshman. I didn't get much playing time, but I've been there before and I know what it takes to get on the field. I've been told that I have great leadership skills, that I try harder than anyone else on my team and that I'm passionate about the game. I have the speed to beat most any player I face, I have a powerful shot, I'm very competitive and I never back down from a challenge. When I'm on a team, I am 100% committed and I make every game and every practice. I am the kid who stays after practice and takes every opportunity to keep working on my game. My focus now is to improve my vision on the field, which I hope to do with my club team's winter training program.
I am a straight A student with a 4.0 GPA and I plan to continue that average throughout my high school and college career. I work very hard to keep my grades where they are. My hope is to not only get offered a soccer scholarship, but an academic scholarship as well. My priorities in life are: faith, family, school, sports, friends and fun. I've watched my parents who are both self-employed, work hard and then make time for our family and friends. I hope to do the same in my own life.
