Hi, my name is Riley Buxell. I am currently a Junior at Stillwater High school in Stillwater, Minnesota. I was born on December 9, 2003, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have spent most of my life in the small town of Afton, Minnesota. Currently, I am 5’10” and 160 pounds. I am a right-footed player. My primary position is a center attacking midfielder and my secondary position is center defensive midfield. Although, I am a versatile player and have played positions such as left-wing, striker, and left-back. I would consider myself not only a soccer player but a leader. I have been told by my coaches and teachers that I possess many of the skills and assets required of a good leader. As well as my leadership, I would also consider one of my exceptional qualities to be my passing. I fell in love with the sport of soccer when I was only 5 years old. My mom was the first of many coaches that have supported me and influenced the person I am today. I also have been incredibly lucky to play with incredible teammates and friends in the sport. During my freshman year, I played on my highschool’s JV team and was honored with being named MVP, and captain. That same year I propelled my club team (St. Croix Soccer Club) to an incredible season. We finished with an impressive record of (W/L/D) 21-3-1 and made it to the Minnesota State Tournament semi-finals. Our finish earned us the premier status. That year I scored 5 goals and assisted 16. In my sophomore season, I earned my spot on one of the most elite varsity programs in the state. This past Junior season I started every varsity match as we went on to win our conference and our section. I was honored at the end of the season with next year's captainship and an All-Conference Honorable Mention.
I take my academics and extracurricular activities as seriously as my athletics. I have a goal of achieving a 3.8 unweighted cumulative GPA by the end of my high school career. I have not decided on my major yet, but I am very interested in Psychology, Criminology, and Forensic Science. Throughout my High School career, I have taken 6 AP courses, and 2 enriched courses. While I am a good student inside the classroom, I also participate in 2 extracurricular clubs. At BIZZA club we brainstorm ideas on how we could raise money to help children in need to live better lives around the world. At Dollars for Dreams Club, we raise and donate money to anyone who qualifies. I plan to consider colleges that are a good match for me athletically, as well as academically.
