My name is Luca Nicotra, and I am a 6’ 0” 145 pound defensive midfielder from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, born in 2003. I started playing soccer at 4 years old, in a YMCA league with my neighbors. I chose to continue with soccer for it is a non-stop, constantly changing, patternless game unlike any other sport. Soccer had mainly been just an extracurricular activity until my I transferred from Kansas City Scott Gallagher club to the Kansas City Legends with the founder, and my coach, Andy Barney. I became aware of how soccer could develop my leadership abilities and how the lessons I learn from it carry over to later in life. Legends taught me that focusing solely on my skill development and the ability to take on other players 1 v 1 with the ball will take me much farther in life than just trying to get another win.
In high school, I plan to keep my GPA at a 4.0 or higher. I currently have a 4.025 cumulative GPA at Rockhurst High School after my sophomore year. In Rockhurst’s soccer program as a Freshman, I made the sophomore team before being moved up to Junior Varsity later in the season. I started on Junior Varsity my sophomore year. Out of high school, I have two years of experience in the Olympic Development Program (ODP), and was selected to play in the sub-regional competitions in St. Louis, and in the Regional Competitions in Tennessee. I also got the opportunity to play in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain. In college, I plan to attend somewhere that offers an established medical program.
