2020/2021 HighlightsI am Dawson Sozio, a current junior at Kickapoo High School. In my past high school season, I played starting goalkeeper for the varsity team. We went 14-3, and I had a total of 8 clean sheets out of 17 games played. I won the Ozark Conference and the Class 4 District 11 Keeper of the Year, and I made the Ozark Conference, Ozark Conference Academic, and Class 4 District 11 First Teams. I also won the MVP award for my team.
One of my biggest strengths is that I am very coachable. When a coach or trainer gives pointers to help me improve, I do my best to apply them to my game. I also have a very strong work ethic, and I will work hard at every practice and game. I believe that the team is more valuable than the individual, so I am committed to doing whatever it takes to help the team. Another one of my strengths is that I am very vocal and believe in communication during a game. As the goalkeeper, I have the best view of the field and constantly give both encouragement and directions from the goal. I tell people where they should be, who to mark, and if they do something good. I am also a strong leader. This past season on my high school varsity soccer team, I was voted to be one of the team’s captains. I bring intensity to the field and strive to make everyone around me a better player. One of my mottos is “make it matter”, and I always apply it to my play on the field. I try hard to keep every goal out, so all the work my team does to score goals matters when the referee blows the final whistle.
Off the field, I’m a very positive person. I am extremely disciplined, and I always try to remember the things that are important. I’m very diligent when it comes to getting school work and workouts done daily. Above all, I always try to be kind to the people around me. No matter who they are or what their story is, I do my best to show respect to them. I put God first, others second, and I am last.
I am currently tied for the top rank in my graduating class. I am enrolled in all honors courses, and I am a straight A student. I have a 4.0 (5.0 weighted) GPA. When I get to college, I would like to major in communications. More specifically, I would like to major in sports communications so I can eventually achieve my goal of becoming a sports broadcaster. My grades have always been, and will continue to be, a high priority for me.
