My name is Luke Adams, and I’m entering my Junior year of high school September 2022, and will be part of the graduating class of 2024. I currently attend Voorhees High School in Glen Gardner, New Jersey.
I have played many sports growing up, but stayed with soccer. It’s my passion. As I get older, I am developing new skills and increasing my soccer IQ, which has allowed me to develop quicker than other players. For me, I have the skill, but adding soccer IQ allows me to understand and exploit opponents weaknesses. This translates to goals and wins. I enjoy the team environment, and learning and developing with my teammates. I am very competitive and have a strong work ethic. I constantly work on new foot skills and techniques that will help me elevate my play. I’m often found on local fields practicing and shooting at different angles at the goal.
I have played travel soccer as a youth, and now I play year round with my club team, and play on the high school team in the fall. During the pandemic, I continued to play on my club team, and we practiced wearing masks outside during the winter, snow and rain. This experience has helped me become a better player, and how to learn from setbacks.
Like my competitiveness in soccer, I’m just as competitive in the classroom, My freshman year was difficult in that the entire year was remote learning due to the pandemic. I recovered well by putting together a study plan that allows me to exceed in my class room studies regardless of the where I have to learn. This change helped me make the honor roll my sophomore year ending with a 3.65 GPA.
What I want to get out of playing soccer in college, is to learn better discipline, that can also translate into my life after college and future plans. I believe that colleges looking at me, will see a smart leader that knows how to win. They will see a leader that is dependable, unites a group, and always shows effort. I want to be the best I can at the most competitive level. As much as I learn from other, they also learn from me.
