Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. My mom is the person who was instrumental in introducing me to soccer. While she has never played soccer, she has been a lover of the sport for many many years. She has told me of stories of watching English teams in the middle of the night on local stations because the sport was not popular in the US. When I was three she signed me up for a Little Kicker's program and I have had a ball at my foot ever since. I tried other sports like basketball, track, and flag football, but it was soccer that I really loved playing. I never wanted to miss a game for another sport or social activity.
I think I felll in love with the game when my mom took me to see her favrorite soccer player when he played for the New York Red Bulls - the legendary Thierry Henry. I remember being in awe of how well he controlled the ball and made great runs to create space. It was after seeing him play that I knew I wanted to be a greeat player like him. Up until that game I had liked playing soccer and I knew I was good at it, but I fell in love with the game watching the great Henry play. The Red bulls won that game.
I started playing travel soccer with the West Orange United FC when I was age seven. I moved to the club team Soccer fore Life (SFL) when I was 10 years old in order to have the opportunity to play at a higher level. I have remained with SFL club and play with their high school program. I am also playing for my high shcool - Columbia High School - in New Jersey. I have played two seasons thus far; Freshman team and JV team my sophomore year. I've also played for New Jersey making it on a statem ODP team one year.
I believe I would be an assest to your team beacuse I am a versitile player. While my prefered position is attacking left midfielder, my coaches on the club and high shcool teams have had confidence in my skills to put me in different positions when needed to support a win. I am looking for a college/university team that will allow me to continue to grow my skills and be an assest to the overall success of the team while earning a degree.
