Ian Falconer '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ian Falconer.  I attend Mountain Lakes High School in Mountain Lakes, NJ and I will be graduating in 2024.  While I always loved playing soccer growing up it became my passion in the Fall of my 8th grade year.  My middle school team needed a goalkeeper and even though I had only rarely played that position I agreed to give it a try.  While I wasn’t my current frame at that time, I quickly took to the position simply based on raw athleticism and willingness to fearlessly throw my body across the net.  During my team’s second game, I faced an onslaught of shots and quickly had 8 saves in 5 minutes.  Simply put, I was hooked.  

Since then I have dedicated the majority of my free time to learning the skills, techniques, and positioning required to be a goalkeeper, as well as being a leader on and off the field.  For the past four years, I have worked both with a professional goalie coach as well as with my own Club and High School team coaches mastering the needed skills to perform at the highest level.  

During high school, I honed my leadership skills as the co-captain of our freshmen team arranging extra practices, helping to position my defensive players, and providing encouragement to my teammates.  I took over as the starting goalie on the varsity team in the middle of my sophomore year.  This progression, combined with volunteer work coaching younger age groups in multiple sports, subsequently led me to become a more vocal leader and now one of the Varsity team captains.  My high school coach has repeatedly pointed me out as an example of a dedicated hard worker who will give my all to the team.

During my high school career, I also worked to earn my spot as the goalkeeper for my Parsippany Soccer Club’s top team and served as the captain of the EDP squad leading by example and supporting and encouraging my teammates.  I am looking forward to continuing to improve my game and making an impact at the next level.
