Soccer is not just a sport to me, it is now something that I feel that is necessary in my life.Soccer has always been a massive part of my life ever since I started playing at the age of 11. I have played at many different levels ranging from school soccer to playing for many recreational and club soccer teams representing my region. Soccer is my main interest, in addition I enjoy other sports such as basketball, lacrosse and many more. The things I enjoy about sports are that it requires a lot of dedication and hard work to be successful, as well as being very demanding and challenging. Having the skill of determination and a high level of commitment is needed to be successful. As a kid I really did not have that much talent, but as I practiced I rapidly increased my skills which motivated me to practice more often and harder each and everyday. Playing soccer has not only given me a love for the game, it has given me skills that I can use throughout my life. Leadership, teamwork and responsibility are the three most important skills that I learned while growing up in the life of soccer.
Growing up I was taught to always make my own decisions in life, to be a leader not a follower. Soccer has helped me immensely in that area. Leadership is not just about being in charge or having power, it is about being a role model. When I play a game I lay my heart out on the field, I give it everything I have even during a losing game. Soccer has taught me how to be a positive teammate and role model. Being a positive participant of a team can not only help me in soccer, but it can help me in the real world as well.
I envision my college years to be a personal growth period. My goal is to explore a physical education major that will position me well for my future career. On the field, I plan to be a dynamic player and positive influence on the team. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college soccer career, I will strive to be an asset to the defense and midfield line-up. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches and the school I attend.
