My name is Blaise Mellema. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and my goal is to play soccer in the United States at the highest level I can while pursuing my academic goals. I am mainly a striker/winger and also have experience playing midfield. I am considered an adaptable player by my coaches and, if needed, will play where they need me and give my best for the team. I have an 87% final average from my Grade 10 year.. In university, I plan to study Business.
I have played soccer for many years and I definitely have many favorite moments. I was lucky enough to start as a winger for the Whitecaps Atlantic Canada Prospects team at The Whitecaps Elite Combine in Vancouver in April 2022. During the combine, our team went 3 for 4 and I led the team in goals. I was also one of three 2006 born players selected to train with the Nova Scotia Canada Games team that was made up of all 2004s and 2005s during the summer of 2022.
Outside of playing soccer, I enjoy music and coaching. I have played three instruments including clarinet, trumpet and most recently guitar. I was in band all through junior high and freshman year. In Grade 10 as well as this year, I am learning to play guitar through my school’s music program. I also really enjoy coaching the younger kids at my soccer club. Over the past year, I have been coaching various teams of kids ages 7 to 10 years old. I find joy in helping and encouraging kids to play soccer and giving back to the community that I love.
