I have been a multi-sport athlete since I was 7 years old, playing football, soccer, basketball and running track. Soccer specifically didn’t become my primary sport until the 8th grade. Since my freshman year I’ve played club soccer and I have been a starter on our school varsity soccer team where I am currently a co-captain. I work hard through physical conditioning in and out of season to make sure I am ahead of other players and to also keep my edge year-round. I consistently play at a higher level and enjoy mentoring the younger players along the way, to hopefully help them become better players along their own journeys with soccer. I always look to lead by example to other players by my communication with them, and also through the effort and enthusiasm, I put toward practices and also during games. I would describe my gameplay as a hard-working midfielder who can get back to help the defense out, as well as helping in the attack with great passes, through balls, and also pushing up the field with my team when most needed to create combinations to assist our attack. I am also a great listener and learner, so if I see something the other team is doing that is hurting us I can listen to my coach’s ideas and directions to adapt and direct my teammates to pursue that goal. My dream is to play soccer at the collegiate level and I feel I’ve built the skills and framework to do that.
Through the years athletics have taught me discipline and given me the drive to succeed both on and off the field or court. I have a great work ethic on the field, which has translated to the classroom. I excel academically because I am able to focus on bettering myself through a strong work ethic. I apply myself in school which is reflected in my grades. My current cumulative GPA is 3.59 and I plan on bringing my GPA closer to 4.0 by the end of my senior year. I volunteer for school-related projects and am the current student representative for our school for leadership and sportsmanship for area high school sports leagues. In college, I plan to major in sports medicine and eventually go to medical school.
