I had been playing soccer a few years before the 2014 Worldcup Soccer in Brazil. Those games in Brazil enthralled me, I was hooked on soccer, there would be no other sport that would capture my attention so completely. It lit fire in me to dream about playing player the beautiful game at professional level. The rise of Neymar and James Rodrigues from Columbia was inspirational, and it spur me on to train with purpose and intensity to improve all aspect of my game.
I was able to leverage my hard work and training to successfully tryout secure a spot in specialized program at my current high school, the program is called the called Birchmount Elite Athlete Program (BEAP). The BEAP program has made my high school experience exciting and rewarding, and as a winner of the BEAP Rob Pacas award for outstanding athlete and student of the year in 2019 I feel extremely blessed to be part of this program. BEAP classes not only develops our athletic abilities but complements school academics in a very real way. The skills, attitude and discipline developed in the BEAP program has been very transferable to my academic life and as a result, has help me to excel in academics and as a result I currently have a 4.0 GPA. In BEAP we’re evaluated on the effort we put into our training, which allows us to push the boundaries of our capability on a daily basis. Training sessions makes bad days good and good day even better.
I have continued to work hard at improving my soccer skills and athletic abilities. This continuing effort to improve my performance on an off the pitch has been instrumental in helping my team win regional tournaments and provincial league championships. My future goals are to continue to lead a healthy lifestyle, keep improving my skill level and play NCAA level soccer for a competitive university in the US.
