I've been playing soccer since I was three. Though I am a three season athlete; soccer is my sport and my passion. I have played goalie for Club and for my highschool. I have played on the Varsity level since my freshman year, and I will be captain for our postponed season this year. As a goalie, the adrenaline charge and the butterflies in my stomach before kickoff, the pressure of making split second decisions, analyzing the game from the goal cage and the bonds with my teammates are part of why I love the position of goalie.
During my sophomore year, we made it to the Finals. We were up 1-0 until the last 30 seconds when the other team scored sending us into overtime. We lost the game in the last five seconds of a double overtime; it was heartbreaking for me and the team but in the end, the experience gave me perspective and made me even more determined.
During my junior year, we came up short in the semi-finals. After that, I trained with my teammates outside of the season as well as training on my own. The pandemic drastically changed my soccer landscape as well as my plans for the upcoming season. The good news is that DVFS will have a delayed soccer season in March, and I am training to be ready for it. I know that my skills as a player, a team member and leader will be valuable on the collegiate level and specifically on your team!
