Ever since I started playing soccer, I have always had a goal to play at the highest level. My dream was to play beyond my club and my high school at the collegiate level. I believe that college sports would allow me to enter into a family of student athletes that have the same drive and motivation I have to compete, but to also be there for support in my classes and with our friendships. I know my college experience wouldn’t be complete without being part of a team that is bigger than me.
I believe that I can bring any team and coaching staff the type of player that buys into the system they are playing. I have been playing soccer since I was five years old and it has brought me everywhere from the local playing fields to East Coast Futsal Championships to NPL New England Championship competitions. I spent most of my time between fifth grade and ninth grade training with the New England Revolution in their RDS program, both in Rhode Island and at Gillette Stadium. They have provided me with a great background in technical skill and soccer IQ. My current club, Bayside FC, trains throughout the year, including the snowy, cold January nights, under the lights in East Providence, RI. They have given me an even higher IQ as a midfielder and train us as many European and South American clubs train.
When I think of what makes me different is my thought that it is impossible for any team to win if there are fractures and I am a player that provides my very best effort on the practice field and in games, but never thinks that he is more important than the team. My dad always talked about this with his players when he was a college coach and I always think about how important it was for his teams to reach their goals. I also believe that my experience as a three sport athlete has allowed me to develop other areas of my physical ability and also keep my love for competition at the highest level. This has given me the opportunity to play for multiple coaches, not just on the soccer field, but on the volleyball court and basketball court, to adjust to their styles and to new teammates, but also keep my understanding that winning doesn’t come without my buy-in to their philosophy and to my teammates. Finally, I have maintained a 3.5 GPA this year in my coursework at Bishop Hendricken High School and know how to manage a busy schedule of sports, school and work.
