Graham Smith '25 Recruiting Profile

The crowd went wild after I cleared a tough shot against our rivals. The adrenaline rolled through me like a tidal wave. That was the moment I fell in love with goalkeeping. Soccer has taken me through many highs and many lows. It has provided me with many opportunities, from being recognized by other coaches or even left off other coach’s lists. The latter propelled me to work harder, to get out there and advance all the aspects of my game so that I leave no doubt in anybody’s mind that I can be an asset for their squad. 

From this sport, I have realized that I like to be in command of the team. There is a power and responsibility involved in organizing the squad on the pitch and I am in the most effective position on the pitch as I can see the entire field. From here, I have to take on a leadership role so my team responds in a positive manner.. For me to be effective, I try to build good relationships with all my players, bringing both intensity and support as this type of relationship gets the players to respect me as I do them. 

I am looking to continue my success in the classroom throughout high school and in college. I believe that athletics and academics are symbiotic, providing success to each other through both intellectual and physical endeavors.
