My name is Oscar Santoyo, I am from Dallas Texas, 17 years old, and I am currently attending Uplift Peak Preparatory High School. The teams I have played in have been Manchester Soccer Club (2009-2012), America (2012), Cruz Azul (2012), Tigres (2015-2016), Solar FC (2016-2017), Athletic Dallas Soccer Club (2017-2019), and my high school varsity soccer team.
My main accomplishments have been having the opportunity to be scouted to play in Spain in 2016 during an individual North Texas soccer tournament in Russell Creek. This is significant for me because I was one of the top 15 players, unfortunately, I had to take myself out due to personal problems. Another major accomplishment was with my team when we became the main champions in the National ESPN Cup in Florida 2018, We've also won the tournament in Monterrey Mexico which is a nationals cup 2018, Labor Day Cup in Austin 2018, Labor Day Cup in San Antonio 2018, and Veterans Cup 2018.
My goals when it comes to being a collegiate athlete revolve around making a name out of not only myself but also the college I would be enrolled in. I want to make my father proud and prove to him that he did not waste his time, money and effort. After all, my father is the one who made me passionate about soccer when I was 6 years old. Throughout my soccer career I have come to realize that I am a team leader who likes to push myself and others to the best of our capabilities. I have also learned that I am not someone who likes to lose, but when it does happen, I like to go over what went wrong and work from there to better myself. I believe that I would be a good candidate because I will bring everything to the table from competitiveness, leadership, and motivation.
Besides soccer what I see myself doing is being an entrepreneur. This is because I want to be my own boss and work where I want and whenever I want. I am currently being self employed with Shopify drop shipping. What I basically do is I create a branded website and sell products from a wholesaler for a cheaper price and sell it on my store for a higher budget, then when I market and receive sales on my store I buy it off the wholesaler but keep the profit. Throughout my journey in drop shipping from 2017-Now I have currently generated $30,000 in sales with a profit margin of $5,000. I hope that in college I will be able to learn more so I can expand businesses.
Being a collegiate athlete will not only help me, but also my family. I will be doing something I love with an amazing team. I know that with my experience and leadership skills I will be able to make a change.
